Embedded engineering is my passion. For more than 10 years, I have been supporting companies as a freelance embedded engineer in the development of demanding embedded systems – from embedded hardware and software development in C/C++ and software and system architecture to PCB design, rapid prototyping, and the successful implementation of complex technical projects.

My focus is on developing reliable embedded software for microcontroller and real-time systems (RTOS) as well as industrial electronics. I accompany projects from the initial idea through architecture to series production readiness and have experience with various Cortex-M and Cortex-R microcontrollers from manufacturers such as STMicroelectronics (STM32), Texas Instruments (TMS570), NXP, and Renesas.

Competencies

Software & System Architecture

A solid architecture is the foundation of reliable and robust products. My focus is on modularity, portability to various platforms, as well as maintainability and testability. Clearly structured interfaces, the separation of hardware abstraction and application logic, and a scalable design result in solutions that can be efficiently further developed and transferred to new product variants or products.

Software Development

I develop embedded software with a focus on robust, modular, and portable solutions for demanding products and industries. For this purpose, I have built my own embedded RTOS / SDK with the necessary tooling and a practical ecosystem that efficiently supports product development, debugging, and testing, creating a reliable basis for reusable, scalable software. Furthermore, I bring experience from the aviation environment – including ARINC 812 and ARINC 825 – as well as in the introduction of IoT Public Key Infrastructures for secure, networked products. This is complemented by sound practical experience with various interfaces and protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, Modbus, and other industrial communication solutions.

Hardware Design & Electronics Development

I support you with analog and digital circuit design for products and, in parallel with product hardware development, create mockups and development kits for software development. This allows software development to start early, even if the actual product hardware is usually not available until a later stage. I also develop functional prototypes and prototypes up to small series production.

HMI & GUI Design

I support you in the development of Human Machine Interfaces, from EMI-compliant circuit and PCB design to the implementation of graphical user interfaces according to your design specifications or with independently developed design proposals.
